Clue Outside The Window

T^E fact that a spoon, the subject of a charge of attempted, .-theft, was found outside the window of a room which she had used after being searched, was the turning point m the case against Cecilia Grogan m the '-Auckland Magistrate's Court. Silver had been missing before, said Rita' Watkins, a waitress at the tearooms, and Grogan was suspected. Another attendant' stated that she saw Grogan slip the spoon into. her handbag and reported the matter, whereupon the police were called •• m. 7 -.' :■'■".'■' 7-- " ■' . ''.• j : ••''.'•' Despite a search of the handbag and a parcel, Constable Bowman. was .unable to find the missing spoon. After the search, Grogan was permitted to. usethe dressing-room and the spoon was later found out-, side, the window.
