AGE MATURES
Travis Axworthy ? s Rise To Fame (By '.'The Toff.") '•. ' Among the "finds" of the present light-harness season is the Ameri-can-bred pacer, Travis Axworthy, whose success over two miles at Addington at Easter completed his • list of wins over all distances. UNTIL his last effort over a two-mile journey, his stamina was questioned. After the easy manner m which he made the pace and led the field home, however, it is safe to predict his entry into the 4.30 class before the end of the year. He is a genuine racehorse, being possessed of perfect manners, and he never makes a break. Travis Axworthy was foaled m 1922, and when he reached New Zealand he was of a delicate makeup. No attempt was then made to train or. develop him. He was an instance where time alone could work the desired change. As tiifte progressed, he was allowed light stud duty, . and eventually made his appearance bn the race-track some four years after his arrival. Then came one of his daughters m Dilworth, which has gained similar prominence as her sire. •= Travis Axworthy is now a' wellbalanced pacer, and one that will be worth his place next season. ■■ ' • ' '■ i
