IVDSTINED to have a brilliant career, ! Merle Miller, daughter of Mr. and 1 Mrs. /M. J. Miller, of Lyttelton, has g achieved many successes which have % been at last crowned with one out- | standing distinction. I Home to spend the holidays with her | parents, she has recently received a | Christmas box m the form of a I teacher's .diploma from the Sydney Conservatorium of Music. • This is only the third diploma that the conservatorium has awarded, and the first since 1912, which pays a handsome tribute to the ■ musical talents of the young Christchurch singer. It befalls the lot of very few to excel at everything, but this has been the fortune of Miss Miller, and at singing, the piano, tennis " and swimming, she has been particularly successful. Christchurch has been favored to hear this talented young vocalist on the occasions of her visits to her people, and have also appreciated her broadcast voice from . time to. time. Should the projected lecturing tour of Roland Foster, principal of the conservatorium, materialize, it is probable that Miss Miller will accompany him, so there is a prospect of a few recitals being given during the- tour.
