On the road It is remarkably flexible m top gear v running, has abundant power, and is exceptionally quiet at all speeds. The seven -bearing crankshaft is definitely a step forward m light six design, and intending buyers should- take this factor into account. Apart from accident; the Whippet Bix should be . free from bearing trouble almost throughout the life of the car, and this is a very important consideration indeed. The crankshaft is drilled for full forced feed lubrication. The engine itself is of the new latest high compression type, but operates with rare smoothness, even at the lowest road speeds. It is this feature that makes the car such a pleasure to handle, whether m traffic or on the open highway! The car is low swung, and holds the road well, cornering nicely without back sway. With its big. sturdy engine, filling the whole space under the bonnet, the car has; a nice turn of speed. It is not strikingly fast, and was never intended to be, but it can do an honest mile a minute, which is faster than 99 per cent, of drivers will ever have the foolhardiness to cut the atmosphere at. What is far more important is that at 30 to 40 miles an hour the engine sings as sweetly .as a humming dynamo, and wjll do it hour after hour, day after day.' The extra mechanical equipment is also on generous lines, including .air- filter, petrol filter, automatic windscreen wiper, shubbers, and combination' stop and tail light. :'■ ; Ignition control is automatically carried out by means- of a governor. A special control is provided on the dash for use when starting the engine. After that the driver need do nothing.
