Harvest Child In At Auckland j (By "The Toff.") j Though a good finish was promised m the Waimairi Handicap, Harvest Child had it won a furlong from home. LIE is a pretty good four-year-oia toy 1* ; Sonoma Harvester that can be depended upon to gather m further prizes at Christmas. Warepa made the pace for half a mile done m 1;13, but Kotuku Jack headed him a little farther on and got down to the mile station m 2.21. He went along the back with Warepa, Shadowland, Rebel, Harvest Child, William the Great and Fight Ever holding: decent positions. Just after passing the mile and ahalf disc Rebel broke and dropped right back. The watch for ,that distance read 3.30 with Kotuku Jack still going nicely m front with Warepa, Harvest Child, Shadowland, William the Great and Fight Ever. Once m line for home Warepa retired beaten and Harvest Child, Fight Ever, Shadowland and William the Great made a forward move. A furlong from home Harvest Child headed Kotuku Jack, which was being tackled by Shadowland and William the Great, 'but after a desperate finish for second honors Kotuku Jack beat Shadowland by ' three-quarters of a length, with William the Great close up. Ariki cut up badly at the start, and Invader went to a tangle.
