"HOP" HARRY'S FINISH

Easily Outpointed By Purdy

(By Cable— From "N.Z. Truth's" Special Sydney Kepresentative) . rHARLIE PURDY, £.12, outpointed Harry Stone vi 9.12 at the Stadium oh Saturday night. Purdy was the master of the situation throughout.

HE did what he liked with the American. Stone quickly tired, falling into clinches to save himself. Purdy's youth and his clever, speedy attack ■' knocked all the hop out of "Hop" Harry. Stone once hit a little loav, but no damage resulted. Purdy'' amused the crowd, by imitating Stone's kangaroo tactics. Stone seemed satisfied to dodge Purdy's punishment, rather than take the offensive. In the eighth round Stone landed a couple of decent blows, but had no stamina to continue the work, During

the eleventh, the crowd hooted Stone for hanging on. Then Purdy belted him round the ring unmercifully. In the next round, the crowd cheered/ Stone for taking the fight to Purdy. Harry landed frequent body blows. Purdy fought back solidly and was never m serious trouble. Stone had to use all his ringcraft to weather the last couple of rounds. Purdy was miles ahead on points. A small crowd was disappointed with the bout.
