Genial George
DURING his ten years' or so residence m Tauranga, George Henderson has made many friends m the pleasant little seaside town. George grves the impression that he has somewhere m his make-up a' military strain. 'He might be an ex-Imperial sergeant-major of cavalry from the points of his waxed moustache to his neat number sevens, while he carries himself with that determined quietness which indicate that he knows his calling, and cannot easily be put out of his stride. Men of note, or travellers after health — or big fish — come and go, but the tactful George would seem to go on for ever, taking rough with smooth, and having a well -chosen word for those who ask his advice or engage him m conversation. He likes a bit of fishing now and again, and avails himself of whatever opportunities offer to . indulge m a quiet, but nevertheless keen game of bowls with his cronies, and he is by rio means to be despised at the ancient pastime.
