IT is absolutely remarkable the, 1 number of dead.-heats which happen under Judge'Lusk.: There was another when The Thorn and Wenday finished m line first day at Whangarei. Most people >on the> members' stand thought The Thorn just got , there, but there was nothing m it to quibble about. However, it appeared that if the rider of The Thorn had not held Wenday — out m front down the back — so cheaply he may- have been up cfose enough to put the issue beyond doubt when his mount finished more determinedly than his rival.
