TOOK THE LOT
Results Prove Was Worthwhile (From "N.Z. Truth's" Auckland Rep.) It was a long way to send three handicap horses from Te Awamutu on the roundabout route to Whangarei, after the' same money each day. ' /THAT each of the different connec- •*■ tions was justified m making the trip was proved by results, for they got between them every penny piece of the money on offer. - ; The trio were Desert Glow, Papatu and Siaosi. m which order they finished for the Whahgarei Cup. On the second day the order was Siaosi, Desert Glow, Papatu. Desert Glow's share of the spoils/was £425, Siadsi's £270,. and Papatu's £125.: ■ i ■ . ■ ■ Besides this a gold cup worth £50 went to Desert Glow's owner and a miniature gold cup to Trainer Frank Loombw On the opening day, the trip named had four others to head off fpr the cash, while on the second day there were three others m the field. It says some more for Te Awarnutu as a training centre, also the consistency of the horses concerned at fee meeting named. There was not much m it between Desert Glow and Papatu for Gold Cup honors. Had Papatu gone on the outer down the back instead of meeting with obstruction on the inner it is quite on (the cards thai: the positions would have been reversed. .
