Filler-Cap Can Stall The Motor

Aside from the possibility of losing the gas tank filler , cap, it pays to be careful where it is placed when removed. The filler cap can stall the engine! ' CUPPOSE, for instance, the cap is •placed on the ground or on the running board where there may be cakes of mud or oily dirt from the garage floor. : • Suppose the small hole m the centre of the cap is plugged with this dirt? ■ This hole, though scarcely more than a pmhole, is a vital part of the vacuum system used on majority of makes of cars. ' It is a vent for the rear tank and is indispensable to the fuel system. Many, car owners are sceptical of this. One way. to learn the truth is to stick a piece of chewing-gum over the hole and drive along- until the vacuum tank goes; dry.
