Far Too Laconic
WHATEVER manner of argument " Phillip Clement Krause may take on when under the influence of liquor, he is evidently a man of laconic speech when sober.
"I've pleaded guilty and there you are — that's the end of it!" he crisply announced to Magistrate Bartholomew at the Dunedin Police Court when the trouble was over Phillip fillipg himself with strong refreshment one recent Saturday afternoon, and then taking charge of his motor-bike and sidecar which was outside the Oban Hotel, Stuart Streets
But it wasn't the end of it so far as the bench was concerned, for his worship had to take into account the police report which had it that Krause had talked fight on the way to the police station, and furthermore — was under the impression that he had been arrested m Clark Street!
To finalize matters was the privilege of the magistrate, which he did with a £5 fine and cancellation of accused's license for the balance of the period.
