Glamor of Seddon

GO anywhere you like on the West Coast, into almost any private

home or hotel, into any public building- — and the photograph of Dick Seddon, of immortal fame m the history of New Zealand, looks down upon you from the wall.

The name Seddon is stamped on every page of the earlier political hiatory of the Dominion and its magic influence will never be erased.

But the famous Prime Minister's name is still associated with Parliament and the present member for Westland, T. E. Y. Seddon, carries the banner of political representation

Tom Seddon.i while a conscientious and earnest Parliamentary representative of the Westland electorate, has none of the genius that won , for the grand old man world-wide fame as a statesman.

That he should repeat m this generation the political brilliance of his immortal father -would be to expect a miracle, for statesmen of Dick Seddon's brilliance appear on the political horizon but once m a century.

Tom Seddon has been handicapped by his name, for people are but human and many there are, who, glamored by the Seddon record, expected much of him.

But for Tom let it he said that he has done his best — and it has been as good as the other fellows' who sit m the House.
