All About Oamaru Form— With Some Useful Hints ' ' (By "The Toff.") THERE was a lot of pep m the Oamaru Trotting Club's winter A meeting. The weather was good, but the track was slow.

JOLLY PET waltzed home m the big race. He was m front two fur- • longs from home and left the field as if they were hitched to the sprinkler. ■ This marked 'his third victory since March and he Is certain to win again before the sea-son is concluded. t The "performance of Shadowland, m finishing second after misfiring, m ( his gait at the start, points to the son of Realm annexing a race before long. Great Actress, Brentloc, Nantwich and Honor Bright had every chance. Genuine made a break at the getaway, but soon straightened to his work. He drifted into sixth place with a round to go and finally had his chance spoilt by Nantwich breaking m front of him. An aged trotter m Nelson's Prince won the Innovation Handicap after a battle with Lonesome, which would have won, but for making a break twenty yards from the judge. Tot Logan wiH.be all the better for the experience. Return Voyage owes his success m the Advance Handicap to his ability to begin, for once m .front and on the rails he never relinquished the lead. He is a lazy youngster, but is genuine and will win good races next year. Danny Boy was forced to cover a terrible lot of ground. He got to the leaders five furlongs from home, but had to accept defeat m the straight. The effort of the two-year-old, Grand 1 Light was a particularly good one. He was up fighting for the lead all the way and beat all except the winner. ; He is a fine type of colt by Matchlight from Our Aggie and will make the others remember that he is m the New Zealand .Sapling Stakes. *.'•".■■

J. McLennan rode a confident , race on John Dee m the Pap'akaio Handicap. John Dee is a bit "iffy" at the peg, but once on the journey i- he has a lot of toe. - ■ Arikitoa and Listen In were well placed m the early stages, but died away over the last quarter of a mile. Nihilist Junr. made a,, good run over the last five furlongs to be second. He came out later m the afternoon and made the field of mile saddle sprinters look silly. He was followed home by Pointalena, which went a great race, but could not get within two lengths of Nihilist Junr., which will collect another mile saddle race m the near future. The consistent old mare, Kerrwood Bell, defeated a field of rough trotters over two miles m the Waikarera Handicap. She has improved a lot this season and now that she is m T. Wallis's hands she will proceed further as a stake-earner. The turn-up of the day was Harry Audubon, which, for years, has been regarded as a good-for-nothing pacer with a heart about the size of a peanut. A couple of months ago, Mra. G. Watkins made a present of him to C. S. Donald. > At the time, everybody thought that the lady 'had a^. grudge against Donald, but at the first attempt Donald won with the gelding. This was m the Enfield Handicap. Arran Chief is brilliant for a mile,' but does not stay at all well. Rose Marie excelled m the Stewards' Handicap after making a break .and getting into all kinds of. bother during the trip. She is a three-year-old by Happy Voyage from Sympathy. In that race, Nan Brent, Great Triumph and Milo Monto displayed useful form.
