Saturday's Te Aroha Prospects Under Discussion
(From "N.Z. Truth's" Special Auckland Representative.) AS several of those likely to compete at Te Aroha will have two engagements, some stiff problems present themselves.
A GOOD crowd is likely to line up m the Waitoa Handicap and probably those on the limit will draw for positions m two rows at the barrier. Beauty Spot owes punters a little cash and drawing a decent marble she would prove tough. Great Eyre and Great Ballin may prove the best of a rough lot. Special Bell, on his victory at Thames, may dominate matters' m the Elstow Handicap and be hard to keep out of a place. Elego would only have to show improvement to have a great chance. If Nelson Girl is as good as reputed to be, she. will come m for support. The Mauwaru Handicap, decided over two miles, will see one or two m a tangle, as few real stayers are engaged. Bell Dial has recent form to recommend her, but if 1 Childe Audubon would do it correctly the race would be all over. Nelson Dillon, if reserved, should have more friends than the remainder. The Ruakaka Handicap will see another large field go to the post, sevei-al of which have a previous engagement. Gaza, Nella Dillon and Patricia Bell may — m the absence of Great Eyre — prove troublesome. If Haerenga Pai steps out m the Hot Springs Handicap she will be all the rage and such confidence as will be entrusted her should not be misplaced. Signor should be m his element, while Great Ballin is also likely to make a bid for the cash. The two-mile trotters' Waihou Handicap may Rive the heads food for thought. Despite the fact that Etta Cole has failed dismally m her last three starts, more £ s. d. will be forthcoming for \J. T. Paul's representative. Gold Star will liven things up somewhat and Appeal should be at home on the track. The concluding event, the Farewell
Handicap, will be run under saddle conditions. Previous running may be a guide, though the chances are that one out of the bag may upset a hot-pop. Gold Cast showed a dab of form at Claudelands and may be suited by the weight on top. i Concertina is well, as her dual victory at Thames suggested, and she is nicely placed into the bargain. Andover won't be last and "N.Z. Truth" is of the opinion that with a smart getaway he will make the others go fast to win.
