All Black Sid.
SO Sid. Carleton -is going to South Africa; well, we envy him. But it
is the right sort of envy — simply because we know that we all can't be All Blacks.
There are still a goodly few of us who remember those other contingents of sportsmen who went to South Africa m the dark days of the South African War. That was how South Africa met New Zealand.
They're great fellows m the Dark Continent; they fought with iis — and now their sons are standing up to ouir boys m the noblest game of all. In men like Carleton, New Zealand has an advertisement of which she might well be proud. The All Blacks will do more good — win or. Lose — than a thousand diplomats and .politicians. Down Christchurch ' way, they're tickled to death over Sid. going. He has a wide circle of friends and they're all delighted that yet another Canterbury player has been included.
Sid. Carleton has taken his honor easily, like a good footballer. He is neither excited nor rattled; but his admirers — they're too happy for words!
All Black Sid.
