Villain of The Piece
An actor, with a travelling dramatic company, has been playing the "villain" for the past seven years. — Theatrical news par. I'M a real dramatic villain On the ruddy path of sin ; And I always make a "killiri"'
In the dramas I am in; I am kind, but it is futile, For in every part I play I must act of being brutal^* They like me best that way.
With hair as black as raven And my features hard and cold, I'm a coward and a craven — Though in truth I'm brave and bold, I must win a maiden trusting, And then leave her in the lurch, Which to me is quite disgusting— -.I'm. a member of the church.
I must rob and steal and plunder, And pursue my course of hate, And in general raise thunder — Like a rascal and ingrate; I must scheme and plot and ponder, .How the hero to outwit, And in evil mazes wander, Till my luck it does a nit.
For seven years a villain, With audiences hating me, And I'm anxious— more than willm' A heroic gent to be; " But, alas, it .jeems it's meted Out, the devil 1 must play, , Though in church you'll find me [seated Nearly every Sabbath day. ■
