DALLNAHINE DOES IT

Never Gave Opposition A Chance In Forbury Handicap

(By "The Toff.")

The Porbury Handicap proved a triumph for the consistent Dalnahine, who, after toeing forced to cover a tremendous amount of ground, got to the front three and a-half furlongs from home and never gave the opposition a look m.

HE won laughing- at his aristocratic stable-mate, • Terence Dillon, to whom he conceded 24yds. The performance of Dalnahine was the best that has been registered at Forbury, and the manner m which he accomplished his task stamps him as among the gamest horsea m commission. He is owned by J. M. Samson and is trained by J. Henderson at Oamaru. Dalnahine was bred by Stevenson and McMath, of Rlversdale, and was driven by A. Butterfield. All through the first mile Bell Harold and Downcast were at the head of Trenand and Bonny Logan and Menember. The first half-mile was left behind m 1.11 4/5 and the mile m * 2.18 4/5. At this stage Dalnahine had worked his way into fifth place. With a round to go, Downcast was just m front of Bell Harold, Dalnahine, Bonny Logan and Trenand, but entering' the back stretch Dalnahine took charge and that was the end of the section. Dalnahine traversed his first mile

and a-half m 3.19 4/5 and covered the next four furlongs m 1.9. Terence Dillon made a big effort over the final half-mile, but could not overhaul Dalnahine. Event was turned round when the tapes were let go and Trampfast broke before going two furlongs. Fight Ever also faulted at the start and Away acted badly. Author Jinks wenf a good race, so did Bonny Logan and Trenand. Direct Morning 1 was not well within himself at Otahuhu and his people hardly expected victory. # # # Tiger , Salve made a "blu" towards the close of the "Visitor's, but Sister Beatrice then had him well gone. # #. # The Tartar is getting worse than ever, though he "can" do it when feeling inclined. # # # Tz-adtffeman seems too unreliable these days and may be tiring of the game.
