THIS was because of meeting with 1 eye trouble while riding Prodice m the previous race.This caused Goldsbrough's services to be claimed.
In the rush to get Town Bird to the post there was little time to do anything else but make up the poundage with dead weight.
The result was that two lead
bags were heaped on to Town Bird.
It is just questionable whether all this dead poundage was to the advantage, of the favorite. ' /He : looked well and hopped out 'smartly from No. 1 position, but he never got far away. '
Though there seemed a.reasonable change of him seeing out the distance' at: the straight' ehtranee, the son of Archiestawh.compoundled In the struggle. :

He may win up to seven f urtpngs and even further, however, 'when the pressure is not right pnv,
But as a betting proposition, six furlongs, will suit Town Bird's supporters a lot better. :'. ■'.:...-..'
