Harry Casey Meets Jim Broadfoot At Invercargill
On Monday evening' next tl dispute at Invercargill. . THE Southland Association has matched Champion Harry Casey with the northerner, Jim Broadfoot and the fifteen-round bout should attract a full house. Casey had already fought m the southern town and he is popular there. As a matter of fact, Casey is popular wherever he shows — Napier excepted — and he deserves the popularity, for he ls a born crowd-pleaser. On his best form, Casey would hold anyone at his own weight. His left hand is always liable to topple the best of them. With his title at stake and a husky opponent like Broadfoot to contend with, Casey will not be taking any risks and he will make every round a winning one — if possible. Broadfoot, notwithstanding the set- I
ie middleweight title will be m 1 back he suffered from Artie Hay, is a really good fighter and he will fully extend the Queenslander. A fighter pure and simple, his style will click with that of Casey's and on paper the crowd is going to have an. enjoyable night Since the present body took over the affairs of the Southland Association, rapid strides have been made m the game; that those m control know What to do and how to do It was very clearly shown at the New Zealand amateur championships. Monday's fight will be the first since that gathering and the bill to be pre- j sen-ted is the best at present offering. To put patrons m the best frame of mind there will be several excellent preliminaries Then will come one of the fights of the year.
