THEY FAILED ONCE AGAIN
Jazz Baby Only Horse In Money
(By Cable. — From "N.Z. Truth's" Special Sydney Representative.)
A few of the New Zealand contingent which came across for the spring 1 meeting at Randwick remain here for the minor meetings.
OF those remaining, none gained any glory as a result of Saturday's form at Moorefield, though Jazz Baby finished third m one division of the Three and Four Year-Old Handicap and impressed as one likely to do better. The opposition was certainly weak, but the Tea Tray horse was going on well at the end. He may have been troublesome but for getting too far back m the first few furlongs. Other Maoriland runners were Royal Blood, First Acre, True Blood ancl Penman. Neither First Acre nor Royal Blood improved on the form they had been showing m recent starts and were never dangerous. Royal Blood had his backers smiling until )ie decided to do the dingo act
two furlongs from home. He is m need of a new heart. True Blood's failure m the Moorefield Handicap may be attributed to interference. He was sent back to the rear of the field less than half a mile from home and his chance was hopeless then. At the time he was well up and his turn is«not far off. Penman completed the rout of the New Zealanders m the last race of the day. He was well backed, but was never dangerous, and his form was m marked contrast to what he showed m much I better company at Randwick. Penman will not return to New Zealand. He was sold last week — a thousand, it is said — and is now being trained by J. Whitworth.
