Twice during his preparation he has threatened to break down, but he is training on well and at present he promises to go to the post on Tuesday. # * * Great Bingen has come on m pleasing style this past two weeks and, favored by fine weather, the two workouts this week will screw him up nicely for the Cup. On Saturday last he reeled off two miles m 4.21 2-ssecs., the last mile he left behind m 2.8. He was pacing strongly and going well when the line was crossed. # # # Jewel Pointer has arrived from Auckland. He is a ball of muscle and is fit enough to race for a kingdom, let alone Auckland. # * * Amaris enjoys the dirt track at Addington where he will race at the spring meeting. The North Island pacer, is doing well. # * # St. Maura can turn on a lot of speed. She has never been better than she is to-day, and a short race should be hers next week. # # * Katute is settling to her work and she can be expected to go more solidly m her races. Over a mile and a-half she is a pretty good mare. # # * A quick beginner like Nelson McKinney should be worth looking at m the Spring Handicap at Addington. A mile and a-half is his favorite journey. # * * Young Blake has improved out of all knowledge, and if W. J. Tomkinson does not annex the big thousand trotters' race at Addington, his friends will fee very disappointed. # * * Final McKinney is a very brilliant mare and up to ten furlongs she is capable of holding her own. She is good m saddle and m harness. # * * If Pan Van repeats his track work he will take a lot of heading m the mile saddle event at Addington. # * # On his Greymouth and track form, Acron has no chance m the Trotting Cup. # # * Ten furlongs should find Harvest Child at home, but if Epigram^gets on the journey quickly he will beat the Opoka-owned gelding. # # * King Pointer is a- very fast pacer and a good stayer. Over two miles he will be a nuisance at Addington. # # * Bell Harold has been working well, and over short journeys he is always hard to beat. A mile and a-quarter is his pet distance.
