Small Boys Show
'Em How
The apprentices have a race all to themselves on the first day of the meeting. THE apprentice of to-day is the ■*• jockey of to-morrow, and the pity is that the kids do not get more opportunities Of riding m such events. Of course, from a club's point of view, the races are not too popular. Knowing little of the ability of most of the youngsters, the public hang off and refrain from betting. That is what hurts the club. . In the Apprentices' Plate on Saturday there is some good stuff for the i lads to try themselves out on. I Wanderlust will probably be ridden by young Murray, who scored on the gelding at Trentham. The kid can ride all right. Avro is another horse with pace and will be m the boom. . After his success at Motukarara last Saturday there will also be money for Master Clarence. Money Mine displayed some form at Wingatui, while Grand National is one from the north. It will perhaps be best to stick to three with form: WANDERLUST, MASTER CLARENCE and AVRO. J
