Voyce Sentenced
DECENT happenings m Palmerston North recall to mind the fact that only a few weeks ago the House of Representatives practically agreed to grant the petition of Alfred Victor Voyce, linotype operator, of Palmerston North, for substantial damages for alleged wrongful arrest. In view of this fact it is very disturbing to notice that Voyce recently pleaded guilty m Palmerston North Magistrate's Court to six charges of a grave nature. He was committed by the presiding justices to the Supreme Court at Wellington for sentence. Voyce came up for sentence last week before Mr. Justice Ostler. His honor referred to the fact that prisoner had, m two cases, threatened murder, though possibly he never intended to carry it out. He sentenced Voyce to four years' hard labor.
