High Crowns and High Prices
Fashion's overhead expenses are high these days, not only m crowns, but m prices. It is not so much the matter of prices as it is the matter of having hats for all occasions, which ■'unfortunately few of us can afford.
OUR efforts to secure something we really like among the vast assortment of felts,, velours and .velvets often meet with failure. ' The hat may suit, but. the price does not, or. vice versa, and so we compromise. In buying a hat, therefore, one should be careful to select a color that will tone with any frock m the wardrobe. This is not so difficult as it sounds, for those wonderfully useful beige-biscuit-dawn shades are still with us, and may easily be distinguished by a whole variety of delightful trimmings. Touches of bright color, embracing the new futuristic designs of contrasting material, may be introduced with excellent results. Black, of course, is most fashionable, and wine color has a legion of supporters, but it is an independent color, and will not live m harmony with anything but its own tones. Blue is as difficult as it is.- charming.
