For accounts of a new system of plating indicate that the day of nickel and brass is over. " - : ' , The new method. has been developed from, the well known Firth stainless 1 steel. ..■ '• ' •;•••■ '.."■'• :' : - '■ -' The. ever-bright property •of that steel was obtkined ; by alloying it with chromium— a hitherto rather -expensive metal— expensive owing to the difficulty of extracting it from its parent ores. But chromium plating js as yet too neW : a . -thing 1 to .be a cheap thing. Motorists have to pay far ' more for it than for nickle or brass, or even silver. /' ; \ -. ■■.■>■■■. All commercialized new discoveries, however^ are expensive m their infancy, and cheap' and efficient chromium plating may "confidently be anticipatoa for the near future.
