Should any of the main fancies take off the Wellington Cup prize, quite a lot of money will be at stake m doubles oyer the decision of the Telegraph Handicap, which takes some picking.
THERE are 21 engaged, including some really top-hole handicap arid classic sprint winners, with such proved flying weight-carriers at their best as Reremoana, The Hawk, and Grand Knight. All three have proved, their ability over sprint courses oven this season. The everyday racegoer, however, usually favors getting away down the list for the more youthful sprinters with lighter weights m races of. this class, and more often than not it works out well. If both Reremoana and Lady Cavendish* go to the post they will carry bracketed support. As to the former, .he won as late as Manawatu, but regarding Lady Cavendish there is just a suspicion by
i her recent failures that her two and three -year- old racing -has taken some of the sting out of her. Trentham should definitely tell.
