GREAT GAME
AI! Blacks' Play Thrills Big Crowd
(From "Truth's" Special Auckland Rep.) It is admitted on all sides that the game played by the All Blacks on their return from N.S.W. was the best exposition of football seen m Auckland on a wet day for quite a .decade.' IUST as the play started the rain did J likewise and scarcely let up dtiring the ninety minutes of the match. It gave the big crowd some idea of what the team would be at their best. With several players m positions r.ew to them, and others more or less rocked, it was a wonderful exposition. How the backs managed to field the "ball so cleanly with such precision m passing was almost uncanny; And what a game the forwards played.! Rush after rush with the ball at toe was reminiscent of the good ol.d. days. ' It is to be hoped that the selectors do not pay too much attention. to the small difference m the scores and delude themselves with thefact that the 1926 team is a first-class one. The weakness of the inside backs is too palpable to all but the selectors, whilst the omission of such a hefty player as Righton puzzles football fans. ' Weight is badly needed m the pack, yel the selectors leave out such a good man as Rightdn. - ■ Their selection is hand to follow, and perhaps not until they meet the strong Taranaki pack will ;■ this' be fully realized. The responsible trio are very jubilant over the All Black result, but this good opinion might come undone m the butter -fat province.
