TN S. A. Lay, the Hawera A.A. Club I can claim to possess an undisputed javelin thrower. , He has recently beaten the Australasian l-ecord on four or five occasions m private and m public; and at the Dominion athletic championship meeting he registered a throw of 182 ft, which is over 7ft better than the record which stood to the credit of E. G. Sutherland until the Hawera lad conirienced smashing it. Lay is steadily improving ..in his throwing. He is only a youth, and later on he sl.ould go very near the world's record.
