NED PERRY'S PART
BEFORE the recent Murray-Purdy fight for the lightweight title and the "Truth" Belt, Ned Perry was one of the most popular men m Wellington — he had charge of the booking p-an for the bout. Peoiple who, m the ordinary course of events, would not drop m and say good-day wei'e being on their best behavior. And then they would put m the hard word for a couple of seats to be kept. But it didn't work on Ned, and so he became a most unpopular individual. Perry has done his share m all branches of sport, and he was one of the three "mug" selectors who picked , Wellington, Rugby . teams that could riot be ;beateft. ■Then he picked a team on his own that beat New South Wales after they had carried, up to that date, everything before them. And the team he picked did not contain the big men. of those .days, -either ! In his day a good forward and a very hard player. To-day, minus a wing, he can still gallop about a bit.
