AN ABLE A.B. ON THE POLITICAL SEA
IT was during 1 the last short, yet vigorous, election campaign that the subject of this inset, accompanied by his chief, "Honest Dick" Bollard, nearly voyaged to Eternity m a motor-launch that had undertaken to sail out of the Waikato river into the open sea. The little craft had stuck fast, and the breakers were rending her timber asunder. "You stand a great chance of not being: returned, sir," said "Teddy" between chattering teeth, but with a wealth of meaning and humor. The "world is big enough for a thousand "Teddy" Poultons, but there is only one, and if you want a dip m the sunshine of his smile or to hear the latest story, you will find him at Parliament House, a very busy cog m the big wheel of State. , lllllll!lll!lll!llllllllll!l!l!l!IIIII!l!lll!l!lll!l!il[||||||l!lllll!lil!IIIM
E. N., G. Poulton, who first opened his eyes m Wellington, and was educated there, followed his father's footsteps along the trail of ink, but over a score of years ago decided to blaze a track through the dense forest of politics. As one of the senior private secretaries, "Teddy" has weathered the vicissitudes of campaigning with many notable politicians of Ministerial rank; and he has always come through unscathed and as fresh as he is m this little snapshot. He found himself attached to "Honest' Dick" Bollard m 1923. ' Brother of the late K. G. Poulton, whose black and white work was favorably known m New Zealand and Australia, "Teddy" has sons who are making good m journalism and m art, and who are also champion athletes. !lilll!llllllilill!!ililllli]||il!lllltl!t!l!ll!lllil!lll)!ll|!!l!llli
