A MODERN PROVERB
On November 7 "Truth" published its first article exposing the unsavory scandal attached to the Wellington City Council electrical change-over. On November 14, the veil was drawn a little further aside, and at the same time the attention of the public was directed to the attitude of silence maintained by the City Council/ by way of justification for its open plundering of [the consumers' pockets. . fi : On November 19, "Truth" interviewed the Mayor, ralso Mr. George Lauchlan, assistant manager of the [ trie Lighting Department. A letter, and under separate cover copies of "Truth" m which the articles dealing with the change-over appeared, was sent to the Mayor. He was invited to make any statement he desired. On November 20, he replied by letter than an internal investigation of the charges was being made and concluded, "I will advise you later." Fr6m November 20 to date represents the lapse of time that "Truth" has been waiting for the "advice." Who said the snail was the' slowest thing on earth?* I!I1I!IIIII!I!IIIIIII1III111!M
