I 1 ; , II To the average girl or woman to whom Nature has not "U || been lavish m her supply of good points, the great problem || II is how to make the best of those good points which she has. || I P.iiiiiiniiiii i iiiimini mmiui niiiiiniiiii iitiiiiiiiniiiuiiiiiiiiiii i iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiHiiiiiniiiiittiiiiiiiiinii ilium Mtniitniiiiijiiiiiiniiuimiitiiiimiiii."a = iiiniiiiiiiiiiiiiiniiiiiini iiiniiiniiiiiii mm iimmm miiimt itimimm m iiimim m Minimi mimiimimimiiimii iiimmiimmmimmiumiiiiimiiimimumiimil?

A complexion' may be very ordinary, or a head of hair neither luxuriant nor curly, yet sufficient care and time spent on one's appearance is amply repaid m the" resultant improvement m appearance. . . . All the expensive skin foods, powders, and lotions are all very, well m their way, but they are only sops to vanity. It is surprising what results can be obtained by the use of plenty of soap and water. The real basis of beauty, namely, health, is only arrived at where there is perfect cleanliness. The Best Way. The average girl doe's not understand the rudiments of looking after her skin. . She imagines that having given her face and neck a thorough wash with.

soap and water once a day she has done all she can m the way of cleanliness. But this is not enough. The pores of the skin hold the dirt, which is not only on the surface, and to. have a clear skin these pores must be cleared. The only way to do this is with «" good cold cream, -which should be well rubbed into the skin after a , walk m the, open to cleanse it from the dust of the street. Groat care should be exercised m choosing a cream. One which is made of animal fat will only encourage the growth of hair on the face. Cream made of vegetable fats is the best, and there are plenty of wellknown makes on the market. Aim of Every Girl. Three golden rules m connection with the skin, then, are: Wash it with good soap and warm water once a day. Rinse it m cold water to closo the pores. And use a good cream. The hair also needs daily attention to give it that glossy, well-groomed appearance which is the aim of every girl. . . ' In these days of the iiniversal shingle it is a very easy matter compared to the old days, when an avei-age head of hair took anything from one to twe hours to dry — to say nothing of the tnrie spent m washing it. For dry hair, a massage with vaseline the day before washing it is essential.

Dip the finger tips m vaseline and rub it gently into the roots of the hair letting it stay on all night. In the morning choose a pure soap that will lather well and make sure that the lather penetrates to every inch of the scalp. Beautiful Hair. Then for the rinsing. That is where the secret lies. The hair must be rinsed and rinsed again, the last time with cold water till the hair . is thoroughly freed from every speck of soap. The ideal dryer is the sun and wind but failing that a relay of warm towels will 'do the trick. Never dry it before a fire, as that is a sure way to make it brittle and rob it of its gloss. i A few drops of sweet oij of almonds well rubbed into the scalp, will add the

finishing touch and leave the hair looking quite as good, if not better, than. a. visit to a ..professional hairdresser would leave it. . „ .. .'..',
