tit Roley would not admit defeat. At last he had to adopt harsh measures with the gelding (we won't say what the measures were °pr Hatch may want to copyright tihem !) and after the disciplinary course Askari was put to huddling.

At this side of the business Askari started to wipe off part of the large i" deficit accumulated against his name. He got minor placings and then won at Otaki. Just prior to Trentham, Hatch asked "Truth" to advertise Askari for sale and quite a reasonable price was asked, but there were' no takers. And to shavv his spite Askari Avon. Notwithstanding this Hatch still wanted to quit him but still Askari 1 was not wanted. ' Back to flat racing- at Levin Askari ran second m the Gup and a second that caused us to say of his chance m the Feilding Cup: "Askari is the likely one of the bottom bunch and has to be given a chance on his second at Levin." It's an ill wind etc. . Suggestion, as near a certainty as possible, had to be pulled up and Askari went on to win tlie 'Feilding Cup m good style. Yes, Askari is still for sale but his price is up a bit now.
