WOODVILLE NEXT WEEK
. . > Nominations Look Good - { KEEN RACING INDICATED
The Woodville Meeting will be held on Wednesday and Thursday of next week, and, if the nominations can be taken as a criterion the club is going 1 to have a good meeting.
The Woodville track affords' such j good galloping" that many horses with engagements, in bigger events at Christmas' will be taken through the gorge ancl tried out on Bill Pritehard's! well-kept tracks. Acceptances are not due till the week-end, ancl we must make our selections from the weights. In doing so it must be borne in mind that possibly some of the horses named will drop out at acceptance time. The Hurdles should find support going to Many Colors, who was very unlucky at Feilding; Toa Taua, given a fine day, should go well, while Waimatao ran a creditable second at Levin. There is a mixed lot at the bottom of the handicap and Waimaiia may do the best of the bunch. The Woodville Handicap field • will possibly be looked upon with a little suspicion for most of the runners claim engagements in much better endowed races at Christmas ancl iriay possibly be out to see the scenery. However, horses who liave shown recent form are Te Monanui, Kilfaire ancl
Waetea.- Clarinda is the likely one of the lesser weights. 'The Hack' Six may see Westbroke,' Newbury King and Sleet showing up at the finish. Quillfire once . won .by a street on the same course. The Open Six has a good class of field weighted. Peneus ran well at Riccarton, while First, Acre has been winning amongst the hacks. Civilform is honest, while Ngata would only need to be himself.. Whichever of the Jefferd pair start m the Nursery will carry the support. It will probably be Decoy Bird, who is due any time now. Ngawaiti has yet to be out of the money; while High Pitch, -the half brother to Father's Voice is included m the field. ... The open welter has several recent winners engaged, amongst whom can be named Martulla, Prince Hal, Printemps and- Agitato. The last-named won well at Riccarton. < ' • The Hack Welter, Kilmiss, raced prominently -.without winning at Riccarton, while. Novar has just struck his best form.'. Musical won' at his last up 'and .Desert Knight: was going^ on with it at the finish of six furlongs at Levin. . . ■ • ■
