Hair-Cutting Charges Said one woman to another just recently, "Can you tell me why the hairdressers charge so much more for cutting a woman's hair than they do for a man's?" She went on to say that half-a- . crown was quite a common charge, and when she went to have hers done the operator merely "tipped" her locks, and when she asked to have more ! taken off, he remarked that m that ' case he would have to charge more [ — even the half-crown would not suf- | fice for the effeort he w.'is making. News comes from Chicago that the women there are objecting to be charged excessive rates for hair-cut- ' ting, and, again, the factory girls m one of the English towns are taking' ', to cutting each other's locks, and get- . ting quite skilful at it, too, having* revolted at the -heavy cost as compared with what is charged for the men. Most men are particular to have I their hair decently cut, and have their special "artists" too, but there is no attempt to charge them m the same ' style. If things go on as they are doing a r \ present, there should be a general I exodus of wealthy ' barbers for the ' "grand tour overseas" and any other ' extravagance of the day, but f .he ; women are beginning to ask que3ti';r.s ' and to make inquiries about other 1 means of keeping their shingles or bobs m good order. A fashionable bride m America recently went to the altar m a conventional wedding gown trimmed with, petal-like adornments of silver leather. ; ■
