Thai Ringing-in Incident

, As the outcome of an exhaustive inquiry the judicial committee of the Taranaki Trotting Club has disqualified H. Daniel, of Waverley, and the horse Sweet Prince for three years. This is the, sequel to the incident at the Taranaki Trotting Club's meeting when the stipendiary steward, Mr. T. H. Davey, questioned the identity of the horse entered as-JTekapo (Brooklyn —Nancy) , who was saddled up for the Moturoa Handicap, i the horse after a preliminary inquiry not being allowed to start. Mr. Davey at the time:considered that the horse was identical with Sweet Prince (Sweet PatchyPrincess Ena). In* giving their decision, which was unanimous, the judicial committee pointed out that from evidence and information „, supplied it would appear that Mr. Kerrisk, of Ohangai, was the registered owner of Sweet Prince m 1918. Mr. Kerrisk sold the horse to Mr. J. F. Bourke, of Alton, but the transfer was not registered with the association as required by rule 153. Mr. '■ Bourke passed the horse on to Mr. Archie Cameron (since deceased), of Eltham, but no transfer registration followed. In the late MrCameron's name Sweet Prince ran placed m the Stratford Handicap ' at the Waimate Plains meeting on Easter Monday, 1921. Then the horse was sold to Mr. Chas. Richards, of Kakaramea, Mr. Richards sold tb Mr. H. Morrison, of Waverley, and then Mr. Daniel, of Waverley, bought from Mr. Morrison. No attempt was made by either of these individuals to effect registration with the, association. sTher'e-is not the slightest doubt that this horse was the one nominated by Daniel as Tekapo. Prom authentic information supplied by the Trot ( ting Association, Tekapo was purchased from Mr. Scott, of Kai Iwi, and taken to Queensland by Mr. Ireland m 1914, and there is no information that the horse returned to the Dominion.
