"Bolshie" Wants to Quit.
"This man has a long criminal history, sir. • He is a man with a very violent temper and pronounced Bolshevik ideas." So said Chief Detective • Cummings m an estimate of the character of Ernest Emil Lind, who appeared before Magistrate Poyntbn on two charges of being unlawfully on Ellerslie racecourse. Police witnesses deposed to confronting Lind on the course and twice requesting 1 him to leave.' Lind then told the S.M. ■ that the police were always interfering with his affairs. If he was a Bolshevik he had a right to stand up for his own principles. When .the police interfered with him they always took him to Mt. Eden "college" and he complained of their attentions. The Chief Detective read over Land's list which contained' entries lor indecent assault, drunkenness, breach of the peace, abusive language, seditious utterances and the like. -. -. .
