Wants 'Dempsey. "My supreme ambition is to figbl Jack: Demspey," said Erminio Spalla, the European heavyweight champion at Rome m October. Spalla had just knocked 6ut Depaus,- the Belgian champion, m a bout m Naples. "I have sent Dempsey a challenge through the European Boxing Federation," Spalla added, "and I am putting myself at his disposal for a bout for the world's championship. I am i-eady to fight him at any time, m any country and under whatever conditions he chooses to impose. I intend to go to the United States next spring, but if Dempsey wishes to fight me before that time I will go across the ocean whenever he likes."
