REFEREES.

And Their Systems.

The writer m recent months has had a few words to say on referees and their systems. Here is another case that came under my eye a week or so back. The third man was only on duty for the amateur bouts (thank goodness). In three of the contests a boy was knocked down. The ref. was officiating from outside the ring. When the boy hit the carpet the ref started to crawl m under the ropes, but on each occasion when he got into the ring the boy was up and going again. No count was commenced— oh. no; he had to get into the ring to do that. Never, mind about the three or four seconds lost climbing m under the ropes. , That is thrown m! To win by the K.O. route a boy had to put his opponent down for fourteen seconds!
