BOXING
NEW ZEALAND COUNCIL
Holds its First Meeting.
The Juut reeehtly elected Council of the New Zealand Boxing Association held its first meeting m Wellington thlß wook. Dr. P. F. McEvcdy was elected chnirman. and though tho doc. is not as yet thoroughly conversant with the rules, "Truth." reckons the
members have picked a winner m this gentleman, who has accomplished a gigantic amount of work for the game m his professional sphere. The secretaryship is m the capable hands of George Aldridge, who has resigned from the committee to take up his duties. Mr. Aldridge is the right man for the job, and he has a grasp of matters pertaining to boxing second to none. ; The vacancy on the committee caused through George's resignation has been filled by electing Mr. Joe Heenan, a choice that can only meet with general satisfaction. Now that the Council has slipped into top gear, we can expect to get results of a far-reaching and highly .productive It has. the confidence of the affiliated associations, and that is what the old Council did not have. :-'.. . i , v
