THE CUPBOARD SKELETON

Found, And Re-Buried Pinero Presented by Real Artists. When the late lamented Mrs. Annabelle Jesson allowed her illicit loveletters to accumulate m a compromising heap, she committed a grave offence against worldly wisdom (although the worldly-wise are often guilty of the very same error). For when' a death-dealing accident carried Mrs. Annabelle off m the very prime of a domestic life of conspicuous (apparent) propriety,- the tell-tale letters were left behind, to be discovered by the second Mrs. Jesson, who happened to be plagued at the time with the domineering relatives of the late Mrs ; Jesson — plagued to the point of desperation. What more natural than that the much-snubbed second wife, eternally reminded of the superiority of her predecessor, should throw down the letters on the table like a trump card, shrieking: "There, there, is your perfect helpmate!" Fortunately, Mrs. Jesson No. 2' resisted the temptation; she spared her tormentors; and Mis 3 Irene Vanbrug-h has been showing Wellington audiences nightly (at tht Grand Opera Hquse) how the great feat, of self-discipline was accomplished. Mrs. Jesson (Miss Vanbrugh) did not do the big thing all herself. Her husband's brother (Mr. Boueicault) helped her to abstain from 'torpedoing the domineering relatives; but even he could not stand too much of their persecution, so he opened the ' eyes of Husband Jesson to the ghastly fact, whereupQn the interfering family of the dead, deposed idol were expelled from the home- — expelled m merciful ignorance .of the reason. - Thus did Mrs. Jesson No, 2 come into her own. Pinero has dressed the story for the stage m his inimitable way, under the name of "His House m Order." And the Vanbrugh — Boueicault '; Company produces it with perfect artisti-y. Enough has been seen m Wellington of the company to prove that all the remaining performances m its excellent repertoire will be of high excellence. To-night (Saturday, August 30) will be staged "Mr. Pirn Passes By" (preceded by "The Twelve Pound Look"); on Wednesday next, "The Second Mrs. Tariqueray."
