Visitor Gets Gay
Chased and Captured.
(From "Truth's" Taranaki Rep.) A visiting business roan, who hails from Wellington, will have to seriously sit up and mend his ways or ho will flrid himself m a parlous predicament. In fact he can thank his lucky stars that ho Is free at the present moment. Whether ho found business slow or not at New Plymouth last week he had evidently been celebrating and by evening had a few m. He apparently is one of those who should not drink as he began to make himself obnoxious, accosting females. About 8 o'clock while a young lady from the country was standing talking to some younger girls m Brougham Street (Just off the main street), she was accosted by this man. Fortunately her father was handy and hurrying across smacked him m the face. &t once the accoster ran away, but m response to the girls' call a number of men set chase and the miscreant, who could run some despite his alleged load of drink, was captured near the Terminus Hotel, a leading referee running him down. The irate father dealt to him some more and would have given him a bad time if not prevented. His captors took him to the police station where he had a bad quarter, of an hour, but the girl's father would not prosecute! as he did not. wish his daughter to have to go through the publicity that would attach to the trial. This is to be regretted as thero have i been other cases m Now Plymouth where young girls have been molested while "proceeding home and the practice wants severely checking. Possibly.jm -examplft-jnlght do- oomo good. .
