APPOINTING JUDGES.
Why Were Several Overlooked?
The appointing of llift judges for the New Zealand championships at Wellington this week caused quita a lot of discussion. At first only four men were appointed, but later this number was increased to . nine. When the selected men were announced It came as a bit of a shock to find the names of such experienced men as Messrs. Sampson, Woods, Kilmartin, and Page missing. In fact, if one looked deep enough into the matter one could see some ulterior motive for the passingover' of the gentlemen named above. Whether any or all of the four arc called on to "judge during the week, the fact remains that a nasty one has been put over them. But let us look on the 'bright side. A new council is now m being and from it nil can expect to get an impartial hearing, and, what is more, a fair dinkum square deal.
