The picture manager, for a week piovlous, was besoiged with patients, and was busy night and day ■ making the necessary arrangements. The night before the performance was to have taken place the manager was casually informed by the Timaru picture people that "Pbrirus" had decided not to appear at Oamam, and at a minute's notice was proceeding . to Wellington to conclude his New Ze-i---lnnd engagement. Without assigning any legitimate reason, the healer forwarded a belated unofficial letter to tho Oamaru picture manager to the j effect that he would not appear m the I White City as; 'advertised. i Tho manager lfad gone to a tromen- j dons amount of trouble arranging details and obtaining patients, and m many cases, owing to short notice, waa unable to notify the many patients interested of the non-apvearanco of "Pharus."
