NOT A COBBER.
An elderly clergyman attended the Wellington Magistrate's Court one day last week. A small boy, attracted by his kindly appearance, contemplated him gravely for a moment and then walked up to say: "How do you do." The parson responded genially and deftly proceeded to examine the small boy ns to his religious knowledge. The sniall boy knew nil about Cain and Abel, hut fell down when questioned about Esau. "Surely you know who Esau was?" said the parson m a pained manner. 'I never met the bloke, ao , how should I know," flared the small boy, surlily, who resented this crossexamination. • , '
