He Howled Worse

A woman who was applying for maintenance at the Wellington Magistrate's Court this week brought her baby, m a perambulator, into Court. Shortly after the Magistrate had taken his seat, baby began to cry. "Hush," said mother, anxious to stop hor squealing offspring. Finally, the woman, m desperation, said: "Don't cry, dearie; just look at the nice constable." Baby opened his blue eyes and looked, and thon howled like a tornado.
