BUTCHER BEATS DUPONT.
Damaged Hand Causes Retirement. (By Cable — Special to "Truth.") SYDNEY, October 20. Henri Dupont (lOst), the Belgian lightweight, made his Australian debut against Eddie Butcher (9.11%). For the first three rounds Dupont. held his^ own and m the fourth looked to have" a chance of stopping Butcher, who was dropped once. After that the Belgian tired and refrained from punching With his right. Butcher, who ,is a southpaw fighter, clinched mubh better than the visitor. Dupont ' was reeling and bleeding at the end ,Q£rthe eleventh and he told the referee he could fight no longer. It later transpired that Dupont had hurt his right hand m, the second round. It also has to be remembered he fought on a fortnight's notice, after a long sea voyage.
