M.C.C. TEAM IN SOUTH AFRICA.
The English team touring South Africa at the present time aio notmeeting with very much opposition. South .African cricket has evidently; not progression iihe^way that it pro->. mised to do a" fei*f years'back. One* only has to think over the names and deeds of the 7 Springbok team which, toured England a few years back. In, case my readers , want their memory refreshed, as to the personnel, it is' as-, fellows: F. Mitchell" (captain), T. Campbell, S. J. Pegler, S. J. Snooke,; G P. Hartigan, R. Beaumont, H. W. Taylor.7LV7A. Strieker, Lr J. Tancred, I. L. Cox.VA. J>.'-Nourse, T. Ay Ward, O A. Faulkner, G.. P. Carter and G. Allsopp (manager)— a, really great side and one that compelled iftigland to put their very best m the field to defeat it. ■Mitchell, Faulkner, Tancred, Taylor, Nburse, and Pegler were almost good enough for any team and Snooke and Pegler bowled the googly better than a*ny bowler lir England. :• •This team defeated some of the best sides m England and the batting andhowling were at times brilliant I fully expect Africa to be able to make a game of it by the time the Test matches come along.
