EVERY HOME A DISTILLERY
The prohibition Commissioner for the State of Ohio, says the London "Times," issued his annual report, m which he states that at a conservative estimate there are 50,000 stills operating m the State, as compared with 100 two years ago. Before the introduction of Prohibition, he adds, there , were not many more than 200 breweries m Ohio; now the number probably runs into hundreds of thousands. The police of the city of Columbus estimate that one family out of every four brews its own beer, and many women are brew-j < ing - for;, their own family and their friends as well. The report states that apricots, raisins and other fruits capable of producing intoxicating cordials are dealt with m. huge quantities m grocers' shops, and m some communities 100 per cent. of the homes contain apparatus for making distilled or fermented liquors. That is Prohibition — as it works. Is this sneaking hole-and-corner business better or worse than our open and regulated trade? Vote Continuance. . * '
