Godfrey Defeats Edwards,

There was a large crowd at the Stadium on Saturday night to see Syd. Godfrey, 9.8, defeat Llew Edwards, 9.8 (Wales), on points after a great battle. Edwards was continually forcing, but Godfrey made him miss constantly by adroit back-moving and was scoring all the time by straight lefts with an occasional hook. A heavy right from Edwards split Godfrey's eye m the third, but m the ' eighth Syd's rights raised huge lumps on the temple and closed the left eye of. Edwards. Thence on to the end Godfrey led. Edwards fought bravely andNvas continually m pursuit tin the 18th, when h& tried to get the Australian to attach but he declined. . He continued to score with terrible lefts .and ran out an easy winner on points. , ' '•
